An Iconic Western Rodeo with the Best
Rocky Mountain Sunset in the Southwest
The 55th Annual Sandoval County Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo is coming on August 15-16, 2025, and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before! Experience the heart-pounding action, the dirt flying, and the roar of the crowds as the bravest cowboys and cowgirls take on the ultimate showdown with bulls, broncs, and sheep! Sheep? Yes, this rodeo kicks each night off with the wildest mutton-bustin’ you’ve ever seen, when the bravest kids and future stars of rodeo in New Mexico try to stick an 8-second ride and outlast the other mutton-busters on some of the most irritated wooly sheep this side of the Rio Grande! Your up-close-and-personal view of the action from the open-seating grandstands is made even better by the view of the legendary pink sky over towering Sandia Peak and the Rio Grande bosque, courtesy of the New Mexico sunset.
This legendary rodeo draws one of the largest crowds of spectators in New Mexico with its central location -- easily accessible from Santa Fe and Albuquerque, and a straight shot from the Four Corners area. In-and-out privileges allow you to check out local restaurants and shops if you need a break from the rodeo action. Or, if you can’t tear yourself away and your belly’s a-growlin’, then just step right up to the concession stand for the tastiest burgers you’ve ever wrapped your lips around. Stay for both days of action and hit the hay in one of the five hotels and motels within a couple of miles of the rodeo grounds.
Each night has four wild events for the young ‘uns, and nine more that are open to anyone having the guts and grit to compete for glory. For the young cowboys and cowgirls, there’s mutton-bustin’, calf riding, steer riding, and junior bulls.
For the older, experienced hands, take your pick – saddle bronc, ranch bronc, novice bulls, open bulls, ladies’ breakaway, tie down roping, team roping, chute dogging, or open barrels. Or heck, win ‘em all and take home nine buckles!
Tickets for each night are a family-friendly $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. No charge for children under 2. Cash only! But stay tuned because you never know, one of these days we might join the 21st century and deal QR codes out like a deck of cards. There’s free, onsite parking for spectators but space is limited to the first 190 vehicles, with overflow parking on the road and a hop, skip and a jump to the rodeo grounds. And for all you contestants hauling trailers, we have a free, dedicated parking area that can accommodate 48 rigs.
You don’t want to miss this, so mark your calendar! See you at the rodeo!
